The Wedgewood Golf Classic started in 1983 as a bunch of High School friends from the Wedgewood area going out for a fun game of golf. That one idea quickly turned into an ongoing, every year tourney which is still going today. It is more about friends (many who are childhood friends) reconnecting at least once a year, so we stay in touch and enjoy each other’s company. The golf competition is secondary, but we take it quite seriously even though we still have a lot of fun!
There are great shots/scores and some bad shots/scores. At the end of the weekend – there is never a shortage of laughs, smiles, ribbing and a whole lot of B.S. It’s amazing this little tournament has survived all these decades later and those involved are all grateful to be part of a fantastic tradition. All of us look forward to this weekend every year. Typically it is always the third weekend in July so circle it in your calendars!!! We get to play amazing courses all over the beautiful Maritimes. We are a welcoming bunch as long as someone in the group knows you and can vouch for you and you have an interest in returning most years. It is all about the fun folks and we have a lot of it! We had it in our late teens and we’re still having it in our 50’s!
In 2024 we played both our practice round and our tournament at the beautiful Northumberland Links Golf Course in Pugwash, Nova Scotia. The beautiful image that you see in the background is a drone image of their famous signature hole #13. Accommodations were held at a local AirBnb that housed most of us with the rest staying close by in Wallace, Nova Scotia.
